KVLU Pop-up Exhibit On View Through August 3

"KVLU: Rewind…In Pictures" will be on view at the Dishman Art Museum through Saturday, August 3. The exhibit features archival photographs and memorabilia that highlight the early days (and people) of KVLU long before computer automation, digital media and internet streaming.

Come enjoy lunch at Spindletop Boomtown Museum. Delicious food by Tacos Y Fruta Arellanos is served every Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Hearing Aids
Lamar Audiology Summer Services Available

Date(s): Now through Thursday, Aug. 1, 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Location: LU Speech & Hearing Building

The LU Speech and Hearing Clinic offers audiology services as a benefit of employment to employees, their insurance-covered dependents, or to currently enrolled students, with no out-of-pocket expenses. We also work with Vocational Rehabilitation for technology assistance. Call (409) 880-8171 for more information.

LU Center for Resiliency Continues Disaster Backpack Distributions on Wednesdays

Prepare for hurricane season with the LU Center for Resiliency Smartstorm disaster training and receive a backpack complete with emergency supplies to assist you and your family in the event of a disaster. Bring your participation verification to the Signature Center suites located in the Cherry Engineering Building on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Serenade Talbert
Boomtown Summer Serenade

Date: Friday, July 26, 7:30 - 10:00 p.m.
Location: Spindletop Boomtown Museum

Join Spindletop Boomtown Museum for an evening of live music by Jamie Talbert, food, and local artist vendors at Boomtown Summer Serenade. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.; and music is from 8 to 10 p.m. There will be a $5 general entry fee and free entry for LU students. LU students will receive a free food voucher with a valid student ID.

National Stuttering Association Beaumont/Lamar Chapter Meeting

Date: Thursday, Aug. 1 - 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
Location: LU Speech & Hearing Sciences Building, Room 170, or via Zoom

The National Stuttering Association plays a vital role in letting people who stutter know that they are not alone. It’s estimated that over 160 Lamar faculty, students and staff share the common experience of stuttering. Come join us either in person or via Zoom.

First Generation Connections Launches This Fall

The LU Office of Strategic Initiatives is launching First Generation (First Gen) Connections this fall. The purpose is to engage first-generation students using holistic approaches to advance curricular and co-curricular outcomes and transform their college experience. The First Gen Connections program is for students whose parent(s) did not complete a four-year degree. New Course Evaluation System Launching Summer 2024

Starting Summer 2024, LU will begin using a new student course evaluation system from Watermark. Students will receive an email inviting them to participate. Course evaluations can also be accessed directly through Blackboard. Questions about the evaluation system can be directed to darpa@dbctl.com.
